DAYCO ’23-’24 AUDITIONS

Dear Students and Parents,

WELCOME to our 9th year of DANCEARTS YOUTH COMPANY; get-to-know us a better letter!

In the fall of 2014, DanceArts Greenville successfully launched its DANCEARTS YOUTH COMPANY. DAYCo provides high-level dance training for dedicated, enthusiastic, hardworking students with specialized Saturday morning & early afternoon dance instruction. While continuing to offer pre-professional dance training in technique, choreography, and performance artistry, DAYCo has a Competition Track that brings opportunities to compete at YAGP (Youth America Grand Prix) and Grand Jeté (South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities).

Each season, DAYCo leadership reflects on the season to ensure we can achieve the best for our company members. This upcoming season, we decided to enhance some things about the company, such as making students audition for all levels and present a 1-minute solo. After watching the growth of our Competition Track, we also added a Competition Track for Elites, Trainee & Festival levels.

Please note the audition information:

Level: Ballet 4B and Ballet 4A

Sunday, May 7th, from 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Level: Ballet 5B and Ballet 5A

Sunday, May 7th, from 3:15 – 5:15 pm

Level: Ballet 6B, 6A and 7

Monday, May 8th from 5:00-7:00

ALL students wanting to participate in DAYCo next year will need to audition. There is a fee of *$15 for the audition, and each dancer will be required to present a 1-minute solo of their choice in either ballet and/or contemporary style. Please have the music on an electronic device or email it to DAYCo@danceartsgreenville.com.

* Competition Track company dancers from ’22-’23 do not need to pay an audition fee.

Students accepted into the Competition Track will have two to three monthly sessions in the Fall and Spring semesters. Competition Track Elites and Trainees will also participate in the company curriculum and their competition solo or repertoire pieces.

Our youngest company levels, Elites, and Trainees, will have two monthly sessions focusing on Conditioning/Progressing Ballet Technique, Ballet class, and Repertoire in Classical Ballet & Contemporary dance (Lyrical/Jazz focus).

At the Festival level, our older company will have two to three monthly sessions focusing on Conditioning/Progressing Ballet Technique, Ballet class, and Repertoire in Classical Ballet & Contemporary dance (Lyrical/Jazz focus). The Festival level will also have opportunities to learn solos.

If accepted into DAYCo ’23-’24, a summer intensive and/or camp, except for the Elite level, is mandatory. If you need help setting up summer training, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our DAYCo camp is July 31st-August 3rd. This four-day camp will be from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm when our full company takes classes, receive photos for the season, get their dance kits and required items, and enjoys each other’s company while building camaraderie for the season.

With Best Regards,

Anita Pacylowski & Hernan Justo, Directors of DanceArts Greenville & DAYCO

Erica Sturman, DAYCO faculty & manager
