DAYCO Audition ’25-’26 season

Information about the DAYCo Audition for the 2025-2026 season:

Please note that ALL company dancers must be enrolled in and participate in their full ballet curriculum and the appropriate supplemental classes in contemporary/jazz or lyrical/jazz. DAYCo dancers accepted must participate in a ballet intensive. We have a DAYCo camp that we ask all company dancers to join to launch the season, July 28th–31st from 4:30–6:30 pm.

REGISTER FOR AUDITION HERE

When: Saturday, May 3rd
Where: DanceArts Greenville

Time:

  • Current Elites & Trainees and/or current DAG Ballet 4B, 4A, 5B, & 5A students – 9:00 am – 11:15 am
  • Current Festival A & B and/or current DAG Ballet 6B, 6A, & 7 students – 12:15 pm – 3:30 pm

Fee: $20 DAYCO audition fee (charged to card on file unless otherwise communicated)

Audition Requirements:

Attire:

All dancers must wear a black leotard and pink tights (ballet skirt optional). Please bring ballet shoes, pointe shoes if applicable, lyrical paws and/or contemporary socks (black bike shorts optional). Hair must be pulled back in a neat bun and no jewelry minus small earrings.

Elite: (Current Elites and/or current 4B & 4A DAG students)

Prepare a Classical OR Contemporary/Lyrical solo of your choice, lasting approximately 50-60 seconds, showcasing your strengths. While we encourage student choreography, feel free to explore resources like YouTube for ideas and inspiration. Remember to have your music ready on an electronical device (phone/tablet) or email the link/song to us at [email protected]. Please be prepared to discuss in a short interview* why you would like to be a part of the DAYCo program.

Trainee: (Current Trainees and/or current 5B & 5A DAG students)

You will prepare a Classical solo and participate in a Contemporary segment choreographed by Miss Sofia. We will provide a Classical solo that we feel is appropriate for your age and development. For your Contemporary, Miss Sofia will teach a 30-45 second combination at the audition. We want/need to see how you learn, process and demonstrate new choreography. Please be prepared to discuss in a short interview* why you would like to be a part of the DAYCo program.

DAYCo Trainee Audition classical solo: 

Festival: (Current Festival A & B and/or current 6B, 6A and 7 DAG students)

You will prepare a Classical solo and participate in a Contemporary segment choreographed by Miss Sofia. We will provide a list of three Classical solos to chose from, ensuring they are age and skill appropriate. Please research these solos and choose one that best suits you. For your Contemporary, Miss Sofia will teach a 30-45 second combination at the audition. We want/need to see how you learn, process and demonstrate new choreography. Please be prepared to discuss in a short interview* why you would like to be a part of the DAYCo program.

Festival: You will prepare  a Classical solo and participate in a Contemporary segment Choreographed by Miss Sofia. We will provide a list of three classical solos to choose from, ensuring they are age and skill appropriate. Please research these solos and choose one that best suits you. For your Contemporary, Miss Sofia will teach a choreography a 30-45 second contemporary combination at the audition. We want/need to see how you learn, process, and demonstrate new choreography. Please be prepared to discuss in a short interview* why you would like to be a part of the DAYCo program.

*All returning DAYCo dancers will be exempt from interviews.

Results:

All audition results will be communicated via email on Monday, May 19th.

Zoom Meetings:

Following last summer’s positive feedback, we will be offering 10-minute Zoom meetings with Mrs. Anita, Miss Sofia, and/or Mrs. Erica from May 20th to May 22nd (4:30-7:00pm). This provides an opportunity for both dancers and parents to understand the results and the follow-up process. The DAYCo Handbook is being updated for the 25/26 season. You will be notified when this is complete and accepted students will need to read, sign and return the acknowledgment page.

Rubric:

Each dancer will be scored in specific criteria: technical skill, musicality, combination and choreography speed and memory, solo presentation, and overall presentation. See below an example of the rubric that can be used for the audition.
